Day 2

Started out from our boulder oaks campground with a fellow cyclist, John, who we met yesterday. Tough climbing with a strong headwind all morning wore us out pretty good. It was also in the low 40s all morning. So we decided to call it a day after about 40 miles. However, we had a great 10 mile descent with a tailwind that caused us to miss our campground. We didn’t want to ride back 4 miles into the wind so we kept going another 30 miles to a hotel in Calexico making it just before dark. 70 miles

These flags at a border patrol station give an idea of the headwind we were fighting
We were very close to the border at times
This was our lunch stop in Jacumba. We were beat by this time fighting the wind.
This was at the beginning of our 10 mile descent on route 8.
